The success of Firefly is because she was a part of Whedon's next TV hit, Firefly. Summer Glau's River Tam was a complicated role that Glau was able to handle with ease. In the role of Tam, the character was forced into government experiments that required her to be prepared to become the perfect assassin. Tam did not have control over her feelings as a consequence. In Firefly Glau was in a position to display not just her acting skills but her ability to fight. Glau was able to fully exploit her athletic abilities since she was preparing to be an assassin. Summer Glau, a trained classical ballerina. Her dancing prowess also includes the study of flamenco and tango but it was a broken toe which ended her dance career. Firefly was only a single season, however it built an enthusiastic fan base. This was so intense that Whedon went back to it after a few years.
