After being inspired initially through the shadows she saw on the grass of the trees She worked over a period of months to develop a technique which did not depict an object as a two-dimensional image. The chosen subject transforms into an image. This happens especially with living objects or objects that die for example, like fruits or human beings. Alexa Meade's painting style, which is very ephemeral in the sense that it is amorphous, transparent. The only piece from her work that is preserved is her photograph. Both the painting and photographic methods are tightly interwoven and result in nothing but a two-dimensional flat space which is able to achieve trompe l'oeil. The third dimension is discernible only in certain areas, such as near the eyes, or near hair. Meade will sometimes integrate her painted model into the environment around her that allows the model to be a part of the context of their own. This way, the line between painting and photography can be dissolved.
